Is there anything better than 50 people crafting it up together on a Sunday morning? Nope, nothing in the world.
The theme of our February Church of Craft meeting was “Making Stuff from Felted Sweaters.†I brought some simple instructions for making a scarf, tote bag, business-card holder, and softie — and then as always, people added their own creativity and a mind-blowing variety of crafty goodness ensued.

We ended up with all kinds of cute holders – don’t you love those pink buttons? Susan was a special guest (yay!), and made an iPod cozy in the shape of a pig to celebrate Chinese New Year.

…Then there was a lot of clothing made. Here, we have An awesome hat in progress, Laura’s super-cute wristlets, and this wonderful vest. See the bird applique on the back? It was created to cover up a little hole in the original sweater. Genius! Speaking of genius, look at this scarf, with a little embroidered bike with button wheels. I love that bike so much. . . and the edge-stitching.

This creative soul deserves special mention — she was so inspired by felted sweaters, she arrived with nine finished hats, and a tote bag! The hats were so amazing – they had all kind of fringes, and flowers, and peaks, and ruffles.

Sweaters also lend themselves well to bags! Here are two great ones. The one on the left is lined with some really cute coordinating fabric. The one on the right is nice and roomy – a great way to carry a knitting project.

Kind of makes you dizzy after a while, doesn’t it? Here are some softies to round out the morning: a wonderful three-legged critter in progress. See the little sweater Rebecca’s making for it? And Andrea made this glamorous, scarf-wearing softie. Pat made this wonderful yellow softie, and these two bears for her twins.
Whew. Seriously – your town needs a Church of Craft.
