I’m getting ready to do a little craft segment on the local morning show on Monday, and this is my project: Fringe Flowers. They’re a hybrid of something I talked about during the Lets Make Flowers episode of the podcast.
I’m really digging these — they’re so simple to make, and they yield a cute flower — and super-variable, with all the different fringes out there.
Tutorial-wise, there’s not much to it: start with a 5″ strip of fringe. Fold it in half, and sew the edges together. Then run a gathering stitch around the top. Pull the thread to gather it into a flower. Then, embellish away.
I’m demo-ing these as pins, but I see them also as great embellishments for cushions, curtains, purses and totes, lampshades . . . really, this time of year, everything should be covered in flowers.

Hi. I really enjoyed reading this blog. Are you aware of craft swapping in New York? If so I would love to know about it. As my printer is not hooked up yet, I will forward this to my computer at work.
Thank you.

[...] fand die Fransen-Knöpfe sehr niedlich. Sie werden aber mit fertiger Fransenborte gemacht, so etwas habe ich nicht zu Hause. [...]
[...] found the fringed buttons very nice. But they aer done with ready-made fringes which I don’t have at home. [...]
