After waxing rhapsodic about spool-knitting recently, I got a nice email from Heather, who shared these photos of spool-knit necklaces . . . WITH BEADS! Holy Moly!
According to Heather, “Most of these necklaces were made in the 20′s and 30′s (think flappers). The top most one is made of Carnival Glass beads, and the third one down is older than the others. The beads are threaded onto your pearl cotton (or what ever you’re using as a base) and then one bead in incorporated with each stitch you make on the spool. These are all small “seed” size beads. “
I am so itching to string up some beads and get after this!! Thank you, Heather, for sharing a bit of your necklace collection, and some major inspiration, with us.
