In the midst of mad prepping for the Lov.li Fair, and before heading off to teach my library class today, K. and I snuck off to the farmer’s market.
It was the momentous first market visit of the year for us. I look forward to this visit all year long for the two reasons you see above: local strawberries, and Sugar Snap peas.
It’s such a transcendent moment: biting into that first strawberry of the season. Crunching down on that first sweet pea pod. So yummy, and the best part is knowing that these bites are just the beginning of a lovely parade of seasonal produce, which will make the farmer’s market a weekly excursion. I see raspberries on my horizon . . . and blackberries . . . and tomatoes.
. . . By the way, in the short time it took to extract this photo from my camera and make this little post, this bowl was empty.

i can’t believe you’re doing all this! Ii am in shock and awe.
i picked the first strawberries of the season from my garden today. they were perfectly red and glossy, so i had to forgive that they were still a little sour. but a quick dip in sugar made them divine!
