The Lov.li Fair happened! And it was good!
This was my first time organizing a craft fair, so there are always things you wish had gone better, but overall, for a first effort, I’m satisfied. (This photo was taken early, before we opened. All the photos I took once the crowds arrived were too, well . . . crowded.)
Our vendors were so amazing and talented. Just look at some of these awesome things:

These bags by April of Rosewebs are just amazing. They’re woven from reclaimed lawnchair webbing and reclaimed zippers. They have nice pockets inside. I even saw one with a built-in lipstick holder. And so bright and colorful!

Look at these needle-felted softies by LuLu of Stabby Critters! She is a needle-felting wizard. That stormtrooper was my favorite thing. But do visit her website to see lots of others.

Speaking of felt, Joey of Addie Pearl Jewelry was there with her wonderful tiny felt baubles. She is the most precise hand-stitcher I’ve ever seen. Oh – and she was giving a free glow-in-the-dark zombie with each purchase! Can you spot them in this photo?

. . . Speaking of baubles, Candice of Art Neko Rubber Art Stamps ran one of our make-and-take tables. We made bamboo beads, stamped with rubber stamps and permanent ink. I LOVED this craft. Candice has a distracting array of stamps at her website.

Phoebe of Superphoebe fame had her fabulous slide lamps, which were a hit as always. See that one with the months on it? It’s made of monthly passes for Portland’s transit system. (You can read more about her at the DIY Alert Blog.)

. . . And glass artist Carolyn Smrcka had these gorgeous midcentury fused glass pieces. I just love her work — the colors are amazing, and this photo really doesn’t do justice to the intricacy of her designs. In fact, she was just featured on the DIY Alert Blog, too.
So again I say, Whew! And I’m taking a few days off now to recuperate, and excavate my craft nook.

Happy (Belated) Podcast Birthday! I’ve been listening for about a year and I must tell you the podcasts have just been getting better and better. Well done! I’m always soooo happy when I see a new one is ready for my download.

Diane, you are a star! The lov.li fair was a smash hit. The vendors keep talking about how happy they are. Thanks for all your work. I’ve scheduled the next one for two weeks from today, so we have a lot of work to do! I’ll call you.
:) just kidding!

By the way, that big dude in the first photo is my friend Brent, and he got a couple great shots at the fair. Check out this one of Teresa Sullivan.

[...] The wonderful Diane Gilleland of the church of craft and DIY workshop was one of the organisers of the lovli fair. She has a really cool blog all about crafting at http://craftypod.com and my critters get a mention, which is thrilling. I also am the featured artist at http://qbranchltd.blogspot.com. So all in all it’s been a fantastic week. I’m exhausted now though, and feel like I could sleep for a week.
