Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

. . . Did I mention they were cute?

. . . So apparently it’s Craft Book Week on CraftyPod. Not that I intended it, it just sort of happened. But I guess that’s better than, say, a Calculus Week happening spontaneously.

Having seriously dug The Cute Book and The Bad Book, I am flippin’ enthralled with the new series from those purveyors of Japanese Cuteness, Aranzi Aronzo.

The books are collectively called Aranzi Machine Gun, and they’re part comic book, part craft book, and all the way CUTE. Why Machine Gun? Because, in the words of Aranzi Aronzo, “it’s a massive assault of cuteness and ridiculousness.”

Seriously, the next time you’re grumpy, or sad, or irritated, you need to pick up the Machine Gun. The comics involve all the adorable characters from The Cute Book, having deep conversations, and taking naps, and searching the world for other cute things. Some are drawn, and some are photo-comics of Aranzi Aronzo softies in poses. It had me giggling my head off.

In the back of the Volume 1 is a series of picture tutorials on the wonders of applique. Volumes 2 and 3 also have craft projects to go with their cuteness. Get thee to the Aranzi Aronzo website for lots of sample pages.

And just so you know, this week’s podcast is not about a book. Well . . . not exactly.
