What a great crafty weekend! I got to wander the crafty haunts with Susan and Kayte, who is visiting from NYC. It’s so much fun to meet people in person after you’ve known them a bit online. Kayte is great fun to hang out with, and I think the three of us made a nice set, all sporting flowered dresses. (Oh, if only I hadn’t forgotten the camera!)
One of the stops we made was Cool Cottons, my new favorite thing in Portland. This store has a great selection of pretty cotton prints, excellent stuff for quilts, bags, skirts, and more. And they make their own oilcloth! They send rolls of fabric out to be coated in a flexible laminate so it’s waterproof. They have really great prints — things you’d never see in traditional oilcloth.
And the owners, Marie and Pam, are so very nice and fun to chat with. I learned an applique technique during our visit that literally changed my whole outlook on applique. If you’re local, stop in!
(Pictured above, the fabric I bought there. It’ll be a great lining for my crochet bag-in-progress, which is still, happily, resembling a bag. Yay!)

Eeek! That fabric is AWESOME! I’m putting this store on my list of places to try to hit when I visit. Fun!
