Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

July’s Church of Craft meeting

Church of Craft was lovely yesterday. Candice of Art Neko Rubber Art Stamps came and showed us how to make some amazing pendants with bamboo tiles and rubber stamps.

Candice has gorgeous Asian-themed rubber stamps, all locally-designed and locally-made. And she has awesome tools for stamping, like these Tack N’ Peel blocks, which allow you to temporarily mount a rubber stamp (or in our case yesterday, a pendant blank). Makes stamping easier, and keeps your hands clean.

Look at some of the things people made!

Candice showed us how to add color to the stamped design with Sharpie markers, and to add Washi paper embellishment.

I LOVE this project — the result looks so intricate and beautiful, but they’re so easy to put together.

Best of all, the pendant blanks are pre-drilled, twice, so they were easy to incorporate into necklace, bracelet, and pin designs. (If you’re hankering for these, Candice has them on her website.)

In addition to all this fun, I got to meet Rachel, who was visiting from Austin. She came by and joined us before making the pilgrimage to Fabric Depot. She was so nice and funny, and it was great to meet her. (Amd she ad on the cutest skirt she’d made, which now I’m sad that I didn’t get a picture of.) She brought me the most awesome present, but I’ll make another post about that later, when I have better light to photo it. Wait ’til you see!
