Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

A Crafty Tour of P-Town

Whew! I had the best time on yesterday’s Crafty Portland Tour with Christina and Susan. And after taking pictures all day, I realized that — Doh! — I didn’t take any of the three of us together. Just as I forgot when Kayte was here touring. I just get so caught up in the moment, I neglect to be a good documentrix.

But I thought you might like to see where we went. A big freakin’ day of crafty!

First stop was Bolt on NE Alberta St. Everyone here loves Bolt, I believe. They carry the most delicious cotton prints, and lately I’ve been seeing beautiful silks and linens there. They have a very nice button stash, and gorgeous graphic ribbons. I scored some fat quarters for a new patchwork tote (because if there’s one thing I need. it’s a new craft project).

After this, we visited the delightful Frock, which is a boutique for vintage, re-constructed, and handmade clothing and jewelry. I love Frock – it always feels so cheery.

From there, we migrated to N. Mississippi, for lunch at Gravy, and browsing at Porch Light. (Saw some amazing vintage printed table-linens there, in sparkling-good condition.)

And then, on to NE Broadway. We stopped in at Dava Bead – a local favorite bead store chain. They always have great glass and semi-precious stone beads. . . and unusual books.

Next up was Twisted – my first visit there, and I loved it. They carry wonderful yarns and stitchery supplies, and steaming cups of tea, and the whole atmosphere of the store just invites hanging out. The owners, Shannon and Emily, are the nicest women. I’ll be teaching some classes there this Fall — can’t wait!

Forging on, we headed out to the Knittn’ Kitten. You can read more about our visit there over on DIY Alert. We all hauled out giant bags of crafty treasure, and made excellent scores. (I found a huge piece of thick wool for a mere three bucks — warm jacket, anyone?)

And then one last stop at the Queen Bee Creations offices, to ogle Rebecca Pearcy’s beautiful bags and wallets.

. . . After which, we were spent. Heck, I’m still a little spent today!
