Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Crafty Zinesters Talking

Last night was the culmination of the annual Zinesters Talking series at our local libraries. And it was Crafty Zinester Night!

P-Town is home to, among many other things, two of the great craft zines — CROQ, and Do Stuff! Their respective authors/editors, Lee and Heather, came and read from their zines.

Lee read her awesome “Do Stuff!” manifesto, and her article on making her famous Monster Hats. And Heather read about her childhood crafty business adventures, plus the excellent piece she wrote for the current CROQ about Morsbags.

And while they read, we made stuff! Lee brought us socks, and showed us how to make her also-famous Ninja Mitts. So easy, and so warm! Mine are Halloween-themed, of course:

Heather brought these wonderful bags of goodies, which also had thumbtacks, pin-backs, and magnets in them. While she read, we glued things together. Fun!

(These aren’t my creations – another audience member was kind enough to let me photo them.)

A great time! We’re so lucky in our library system here — they consistently offer such cool programming.
