Hello there! I'm Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Big Mail Art Fun, Tomorrow Night!

If you’re local, and a fan of the Mail Art, be sure and stop by the IPRC for their First Thursday Mail Art Open House, tomorrow, November 1.

Local Mail Art maven Leslie Waygren will give an Intro to Mail Art talk at 7:00 pm. And then, you can see lots of Mail Art samples. (And also some art postcards from Portland’s own Bathtub Art Museum. I tell you, it’s a cool town.)

You can also make some Mail Art of your own from 6-9pm, and while you’re there, finally take that tour of the IPRC you’ve been meaning to get around to. It truly is one of Portland’s great creative public resources.

(If you’re not local, then the IPRC is also known as the Independent Publishing Resource Center. It houses letterpress printing presses, copiers, computers, screenprinting materials, and just about anything else you need for your indie publishing projects. They also have a zine library, containing thousands of titles. And they offer classes in everything from printing to bookbinding to self-publishing and more. Be still, my heart.)

Oh – and if you miss this event, you can go play at MailArt.org.
