Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Gingerbread Houses in Second Life

Since gingerbread houses are so prominent this year, I thought I’d show you some of the g-bread building going on in Second Life. It’s pretty freakin’ amazing.

They can be found in all shapes and sizes. Here’s a little one with a train that goes round and round . . . .

. . . And here’s a big one, that resides on its own glacier.

A pic with my avatar in it, for scale. That gingerbread man was a good converationalist.

This one has punch bowls of eggnog and spiced wine out front, an ice-sculpture reindeer, and a little craft fair off to the side.

And this nice little one resides in Santa’s Workshop, where you can also find elves making toys, and elves taking naps.

Stop in the kitchen, and Mrs. Claus will give you treats.

Then you can inspect the sleigh and some reindeer. . . .

And, just for fun, turn yourself into a snowgirl and stand in front of the fireplace. In Second Life, you can ignore the laws of physics like that.

Later, I went ice-skating at Rockefeller Center, watched the Macy’s parade (which runs continuously) and had my picture taken with Santa.

If you’re an SL-er and want some landmarks for all this, just drop me a line.
