Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Craftivism in Action: Crafted With Love

Donated by Bull In China Shop.

Continuing on a craftivism theme this week, here’s a project I’ve been meaning to share with you for some time: Crafted With Love. It’s a project based in Singapore, and an excellent example of how crafters can use their skills to make a difference in their own communities.

Crafted With Love is an online store selling handmade goods, with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit Action for Singapore Dogs. (They’re a non-euthanasia shelter that helps find homes for stray and abandoned dogs.)

Donated by Fiona’s Bead Bar

The project was created in January 2007 by two Singapore crafters, Mandy and Wee Seng. They built a website, contacted some fellow animal-lovers to donate handmade items for sale, and the project was off and running. They faithfully report what the project has raised for Action for Singapore Dogs each month, and they hope to grow the store over time so they can help support several animal organizations.

Donated by Tantalizing Stitches

Crafted With Love’s blog has interviews with people who contribute items to the store, and profiles of local animal organizations. If you’d like to help support the project with a purchase, you can shop here (they will ship to the U.S.). Or, if you want to donate some items for sale, you can find out more here.
