Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Apologies and Linkies

Okay, let’s do the bad news first. This week’s podcast is going to be late. I’m running a fever, and need to rest instead of edit. Apologies, and sincere promises of eventual listening pleasure.

And since my brain is foggy, let me share some cool things that other people are up to:

————————————————————-

Kathie and Shannon, of the really-genius Back and Forth Project, are seeking submissions for their Friend Friday project. From their blog:

“We’d like to build a tribute to the physicality of moving something back and forth between two people- and utilizing the internet as a means to document the beauty of getting back to a more multi sensory, visceral experience of staying connected … So! We invite YOU to submit a project you and a friend will make and pass back and forth through the mail as you each embellish it.”

Lovely. Learn more here.

Check out Portland’s newest yarn store, Yarnia, where you can custom blend your own yarn. And then just try to tell me that P-Town isn’t the coolest city ever.

I’ve been doing lots of great artist/crafter interviews on DIY Alert lately. Check out Brent Wear‘s awesome bird paintings, Heidi Lauman‘s paper cut work, and super-cool soft toys by Dolls For Friends.

Oh, yeah – because every post needs a picture, that’s my finally-completed baby blanket for Khadija’s blanket drive. My first-ever completed crochet blanket. More flaws than you can possibly count, but still, I’m fond of it. Hope the mother who receives it likes it, too.
