Making good use of my discretionary

I’ve been on a series of mini-splurges lately. Here are some recent scores:

Above are two of Amanda’s adorable pins. I love that robot so much! I’m so impressed that she etches these things freehand with a dental drill – that’s a steady hand. (Amanda is a new Portlander, too – all good things migrate here eventually.

Cathy sent me a link to this eBay auction, and I had to bid. What a funny and-yet-kind-of-charming concept. I love how old craft books would feature projects like this sometimes – no earthly use, just something silly.

However, there is an interesting little detail in here – I like how multiple layers of plastic canvas are stacked and then whip-stitched together for dimension. *filing this away for my someday plastic canvas magnum opus.*

Have you seen Cathy’s series of posts about plastic canvas stitched with Swiss-Straw? Beautiful, beautiful things.

. . . And hey! How did these get in here?

  • yey so glad you won the auction. that book was just had to go to you!
  • I love how it says 'Winning Plastic Canvas Designs' on the cover.

    Yay for buttons!
  • Diane - I just about fell off my chair when I saw the buttons. You crack me up! (and note to G+N - we in the crafty world love nervous nerdy nellies - go for it.)
  • I love Bread and Badger! My hubby bought himself a pint glass with the same robot on it at the Bazaar Bizarre this past Christmas! Her custom gallery is pretty cool too - I'm not a big drinker, so I would feel silly splurging on these, but her sets of shot glasses that are etched and colored are so cool!

    Have a happy Thursday!

P.S. Did you ever get to listen to the podcast? I'm totally never posting it - I sound like a nervous nerdy nelly!
  • those candies remind me of the time at work I surreptitiously took a mint out of a big bowl of mints and... it was an earplug :-(.
  • I love your blog so much. There is so much to learn. Thanks for your inspiration. I'll be checking back. Cambria
  • That robot is the bomb! I love it. Thanks for sharing this, and for the links, I always learn stuff.
