Say Hello to Laura, everybody…

I stopped by the Bead Expo this afternoon to visit my friend Laura. She’s there with her gorgeous fused glass pendants.

Laura has had a jewelry business for years, but last year, she had a creative epiphany. She went to work for a local glass company and discovered the wonders of fusing glass. She got deeply hooked, and is now devoting all her time to this art. I love these “finding your creative path” stories.

I should say that the light in the Convention Center is horrendous, and my camera didn’t capture Laura’s delectable colors very well. Check out her way better photos on Flickr. I’m always amazed at the effects she’s able to get by combining different types of glass with interesting add-ins.

She’s so cute! And, she has drive and courage. Yesterday, we were walking around the Expo, and she noticed an empty booth. She promptly found a person-in-charge, and asked if she could rent it. So today, she’s a vendor. When you love your work, you don’t hold back.

You can also check out Laura’s work at her Etsy store and on her blog. Stop by and say hi if you’re at the Expo tomorrow.
