Progress on our deck makeover has been slow, mostly because it rains every single freakin’ day right now in Portland. But we have made some small upgrades. That’s our lettuce box, almost ready to start harvesting. Don’t you love those two mushroom stakes? They’re a gift from my mom.
Some bits of color in their infancy. Those geraniums I picked up at the farmer’s market two weeks ago are going gangbusters.
This is, embarrassingly enough, an onion that stuck around our kitchen long enough to sprout. So K. stuck it in a pot, and now we’re waiting for it to bloom. (We’re trying to be better about these things, now that market season is here.)
We got the lights rigged back up, so now we can sit out here in the (non-rainy) evenings and enjoy some relaxed chat time.
(On a side note, that stretching buddha next to the yellow marigold makes me smile these days.)
. . . And if we’re being exceptionally sick, we can bring out the laptop and watch some old TV on Hulu. (Warning! Addictive website! Go back! Go Back!)
Still looking for decorative things to hang on the walls out there, and maybe some resin tikis. Oh – and some SUN.

It’s coming along – your mushroom stakes are awesome! Do you own Pad by Matt Maranian? If I’m remembering correctly there is a killer tiki relief project in there that would look awesome on your deck :)

Hulu is amazing—I found (I can’t believe I’m admitting this in a public place) my favorite Party of Five episode ever on Hulu.

Haha, it’s not uncommon to find sprouting onions in the back of our vegetable storage either : D

Those are such beautiful geraniums. The ones we had from last year didn’t make it through, so they’re next on the Plant Wish List. There are some beauties at the Vancouver Farmer’s Market, and my daughter works for the grower, so easy enough, right? I think I’ll send her your entry and tell her, “There. Those. That color, okay? Just tell me how much!” (Would you believe she works in a greenhouse full of geraniums, and she’s allergic to them? She says she loves the job, though.)
