My 2 1/2 Minutes of Fame

So, back in January, I did a video interview for Google Book Search. (They saw my post about it.) But I hadn’t heard anything from the folks at Google after that, so I thought nothing had come of it. And then lo and behold, look what showed up in my site stats this morning: It’s shot at the ever-lovely Twisted, which looks great, doesn’t it? I also want to thank Kalina for turning me on to GBS in the first place. . . . And of course, when watching this thing, all I could think about was Bridget’s freakin’ hilarious post on the sobering nature of seeing yourself on video. (Yes, Bridget, I did take some funny screen captures. But I am not as courageous as you are.)Anyway, for all those people who’ve chided me on never putting photos of myself on this blog, here ya go.

  • w00t! You're a spokesmodel!

    Hello,
I was surfing Craftzine's blog and came across your website/blog. I enjoyed it. (I went to Google book search). Thanks. Also, I was wondering if you knew someone by the name of Carter and Marylou Gilleland?? I use to work for a man named Carter at Crown Zellerbach about 20 years ago. Your last name caught my eye. Thanks.
  • This doesn't come up on my screen! Maybe I'll go do a search or something.
  • futuregirl
Yay! I'm 100% jealous that you are as cool, composed, articulate, and sweet on camera as you are on the phone and in your pod casts. Nerves of steel, I tell you. And how adorable are you in that pixie hair cut?! And I'd totally forgotten about Google book search ... and I'm going to do my best to forget about it again because I just don't got that kinda time. :)
  • oops - it's Kalina, not Kabira :-) But thanks for the mention!
  • So great to actually see you while I listen to you! I have listened to all of your shows and Mimi told me so much about you after her trip to Portland. Thanks for all you do!
  • Well hello there! thanks for sharing this sis, I think you're cute as a button, but that's just what I'd be expecting too after listening to you all these months, it kinda shines through.
  • Fabulous. I had pictured you as a blonde, funny. . .
  • gl.
yay! congratulations! and you've just solidified my intent to look up calligraphy resources via google book search. :)
  • You are beautiful on the outside too! I always knew you are beautiful on the inside.
    Great job!
  • Terri Pike
Sister Diane!! It is so funny to hear that familiar voice come out of an unfamiliar face! Kind of like when you see the Simpson's voice actors in an interview!
Thanks for posting that... and yes, Google is awesome, I will check out their book section.
  • I love your video! Congrats!
  • Hooray! What fun! I really liked your comment about "not your grandma's knitting, well, I'm interested in my grandma's knitting" because that is the way I feel about it too! I love finding little notes here and there that my grandma made about her projects, it's an amazing joy/inspiration/resource. Not to mention, if it weren't for my grandma, I don't know if I would have ever learned to sew, knit, or crochet.

I have thought of google books a lot, and looked on it here and there, but it continually slips out of my mind. Maybe this time it will stick around and I'll start looking on there more for inspiration and resources.

Thanks sister D for sharing your few minutes of fame!
  • neato! you're a natural on camera!
  • Deanne
That was great! I'm glad you posted this, not only so I can put your face to your name, but also because of the subject. I hadn't seen your original post about Google books, and now I have another resource for great crafty info. Thanks! :D
  • Yayyy - what a fun video! And I totally want to visit Twisted now. I seriously need to start a penny jar for a Portland vacation!
