Hello there! I'm Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

I get emails pretty regularly from people who are looking for a good home for their surplus crafty stuff. When Diana contacted me to say that she had a bag of Lily Pulitzer quilt pieces, I was alllllllll over that.

When I saw the size of the bag, I forgot to breathe for a moment. Big shopping bag. Filled with squares and triangles of Lily in all kinds of colors and prints. Holy Moly.

Diana told me that her mother had gotten these from someone who worked at a factory where Lily fabric was made. This stash is clearly the makings of a quilt – and what a quilt! I cannot imagine anything more cheerful, more vivacious than all these fabrics together.

I had a long, zenlike evening last Friday, sorting and pressing all these pieces while listening to This American Life. (Definitely my idea of a quality Friday night.)

I probably did way too much photography here, but just look! There are all these awesome flora and fauna fabrics…

And amazing brights…

There are warm colors and cool ones, but all with that lovely sort of cotton-candy feeling.

This one shows you the different sizes and shapes. To give you an idea of the number of pieces, the stack of small squares is (I kid you not) five inches tall.

So, yes, I’m fairly toe-tinglingly happy right now. When my schedule calms down in a couple months, I’m looking forward to another long, zenlike session – this time, laying out squares.
