I Heart the Weave-It

What, two posts in one day?! Yeah, well, I had to share my newest crafty obsession: the Weave-It Loom. Truly one of the most elegant simple devices I’ve ever used. It’s a real pleasure to use a piece of equipment like this, where every tiny bit of the design has a purpose. It’s easy to use and the resulting squares are beautiful. Where’ve ya been all my life, baby?

Don’t you just love this little scalloped edge, too? OMG, I love this thing.

Visit this Flickr group to see some awesome Weave-It action. Oh – and, you can get them on eBay, although they do tend to bid up.

I had one as a child and trying to find mine, I would like to get another one but like you said on ebay they tend to bid up.

My mother had one of these looms and used her squares to make drawstring purses. I just received mom's loom yesterday, after my aunt found it when she cleaned out her storage room. I will definately have to play with my 'new old toy'!

Try eloomnation.com they have instructions for all different types of looms, and they are free to download. there are also instructions for making different patterns.
  • I just purchased an old Weave-It but the instructions aren't very clear. How much yarn do you cut to start weaving? Thank you.

You've inspired me to get mine out and try it. I was lucky enough to buy one at a yard sale for 75 cents in the original box with the original instructions.

i wonder if its possible to make one of these.. as i cant find one anywhere!
  • I love the Weavette! I actually use mine with a really fine gauge sterling silver wire and make jewelry. It looks fantastic. I got mine through a company in Mass, Bruxton Brrok Loom, www.weavettes.com.

I've got the loom, but lost the directions for threading it (or setting it up). I've tried over and over but get the incorrect number of threads to weave through. Do you know of an online source just for those directions? I think I've looked through all of the stuff on eloomanation.com

Yeah! I've had one of these for years and never know how to use it - though for some reason I just couldn't part with it. Thanks for posting so now I can learn!
  • That is amazing and I'm putting it on DH's list of stuff to make me :)

    Thanks!

  • Holy Cow! I just bought a box of junk at a church charity drive and an old wooden loom like the one you have, was in there. I had no idea how to use it but thanks to you I know what its called and I can now download directions from the link you attached. Bless your heart! I dore the edging too. I'm sooo going to make some weavings with it.
  • Sweet piece - love the edge too Diane! Never seen a weave it but I'll check the flickr link out!
  • And your Mother doesn't know ab out this yet because.........................
  • Just on my lunchbreak, Love the Weave-it too! And the edges are indeed very refined.. would be great for a blanket full of those neat squares. That color purple/blue is so warm!
  • they are wicked cool. I came to tell you about Jana/eloomanator's blog but see Suzi beat me :-).

  • Diane. Diane, diane, diane. How can I continue to add things to my list?! Sometimes I skip a day of Craftypod, because I just KNOW I'm going to see something cool and have to add something else! And I come over here and I LUV this and I have TWO things to add!!! And that doesn't even COUNT Craftstylish, where I realized that I now have to DESIGN some FABRIC for next year's birthdays and events!

I left my neurosurgeon practice because it was cutting into my lying around time, but I might have to go back if this doesn't stop.
  • Wow! My mom has one of these from way back. I found it when I was going through all of her fibrous craft supplies and I asked her if I could take it to Mexico with me. *She wouldn't let me!* booo!
