See this? It’s the product of this:

Plus these:

Plus some Swistraw!

OOh . . . it’s all dimensional and stuff. I attached the flowers with a good old-fashioned needle and thread, stabbing right through the bag to the inside. Not so elegant, perhaps, but it got the job done.
This is also, near as I can tell, the first thing I’ve made solely for myself in 2008. I’m super-happy with how it turned out, and very grateful to have it done while it’s still appropriately Summery out. Thank you again for the awesome PC shapes, Cathy!
Oh – and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about plastic canvas shapes and Swistraw all day today.

omg that turned out SO cute! I wonder if one of those curved upholstery needles would be useful for attaching things to a finished/lined bag? seriously though – totally cute.

I love what you did with this bag! I have never seen the little forms that you used to make the flowers before! They are so neat!
Have a Blessed Day,

Cool but where can one get Swistraw? What else works?

After much searching I found “Swistraw” by googling “raffia.” I found 2 sources in the LA area at very reasonable prices (100 yds for under $3, unlike the $5 that some vendors are charging for 24 yds). Check giftsintl.com and papermart.com. They ship superfast at very reasonable rates. Good luck! ani frazier (fraziera@redshift.com)
