So I took Monday off and visited with both Laura and Susan. It’s always so great to hang out with both those ladies, and as a total bonus, they gave me the most amazing presents. What is this, you’re wondering?
It’s an Enid Collins handbag. With Granny Squares on it! I forgot to breathe for a minute.
If perchance you’re not familiar with Enid Collins, she was an iconic handbag designer in the 1960′s. Read this excellent bio, and see more of her amazing bags here.

And Laura gave me this! Can you see what’s going on? It’s a salt crystal garden, where the crystals grow in color, and in the form of leaves on the trees and snow on the mountain top.

birthday-wise, I wanted the Enid bag to be for Diane’s birthday last year (ahem) but it was in storage while we were moving and I didn’t get it together in time… so instead, I guess it was meant to celebrate Third Monday in September Day :)

I remember getting given one of those magic gardens when I was little and sick with the chicken pox. I totally loved them. And I’ve seen instructions on the web on how you can make them your self. They’re so much fun! Maybe I’ll make one soon…
