Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Taking in Autumn

Here’s The Pumpkin Patch in a slightly more frenzied state than in my previous post. For the last two days I’ve been watching people troop by, carrying pumpkins like they’re golden treasures.

The pumpkin fields are teeming. I just love this celebration of autumn – families enjoying the last of the precious nice weather, spending an afternoon seeking out the perfect orange orb to decorate their front steps.

Here’s why I’m spending so much time at The Patch this month: I’m assisting my parents, who run a photo booth there each year. Look at this cool autumn-y set my Mom built for people to pose on!

She made these crepe paper sunflowers for the background, because she is a genius.

What’s really cool is that many families come back year after year, and make the photo part of their tradition. It’s fun to see the same kids getting bigger each year.

So, locals, if you’re out there on a weekend, stop by and hi. I’m the one working the photo printer. (A word of advice, though: next weekend will be very busy – come early and leave before noon if you want to avoid a long wait to get on or off the island.)
