I’m happy to report that we have a new cat-friend in the family! This luxuriously-furred fellow’s name is Pushkin. Our vet was caring for him after his original companion passed away. After the Louie experience, our vet asked us if we’d try giving Pushkin a home.
It didn’t go too well for the first few weeks. Pushkin was one unsettled kitty, as you might expect, and spent 23 hours a day hiding. But just as we were reaching the conclusion that maybe this wasn’t working out, he plucked up his courage and came out to see us.
He’s been out of hiding for just over a week now, and enjoying a great deal of petting, so we’re ready to call this adoption permanent. He really is a sweetie, and enjoys a good ball of Red Heart Super Saver.
. . . Apparently, he’s a gourd-crafter, too. :-)

Hurray for you guys giving another difficult cat a try!!!!! Wow, I’m so impressed! I took on Smilla and it was SO EASY as she was grown up and such a lady. I bet Push will give you trouble, he looks like trouble, but hopefully in a fun and kitty misschivious way! ;-)

He is very handsome! Kitties can just take longer to adjust, especially if they have been moved around. My cat Mabel came from a women who was put in a nursing home and need a place for her kitties. Mabel sat at tht front door and cried all night the first day we had her and hid during the day. Now she is settled in and the sweetest, most loving kitty. Your patience with Pushkin (cool cat name!) will pay off.
