I’m happy to report that we have a new cat-friend in the family! This luxuriously-furred fellow’s name is Pushkin. Our vet was caring for him after his original companion passed away. After the Louie experience, our vet asked us if we’d try giving Pushkin a home.
It didn’t go too well for the first few weeks. Pushkin was one unsettled kitty, as you might expect, and spent 23 hours a day hiding. But just as we were reaching the conclusion that maybe this wasn’t working out, he plucked up his courage and came out to see us.
He’s been out of hiding for just over a week now, and enjoying a great deal of petting, so we’re ready to call this adoption permanent. He really is a sweetie, and enjoys a good ball of Red Heart Super Saver.

. . . Apparently, he’s a gourd-crafter, too. :-)

Ohhh! Congratulations! I’m glad he came out and embraced his new home. Oddly enough, I swear he looks like Molly, just all gray instead of flecks of orange.

Pushkin is beautiful. I love all that gray fur. Is he a Maine Coon? He reminds me so much of my Percy who went to Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago. If he is a Maine Coon you will be loved unconditionally. They are the sweetest cats in the world.

Haha, I think this is the easiest blogging trick to get a zillion comments…post gorgeous fluffy fur-babies!
Pushkin IS such a gorgeous smokey grey! And all that fur…that’s the kinda fuzzy ya just want to bury your face into. (3 out of my 4 cats enjoy this, hehe, really!)
I’m so glad that you decided to give him a try. I don’t think a crafter’s house is complete without a cat. They are so very inspirational. ;)

Diane,
It’s lovely that you and Pushkin have found one another. After the problems that poor Louie (and you) went through, it is good that you have tried again so soon, and that it has worked (fingers crossed). You know that his dear departed owner would love that he had found someone to love him again. I hope you all have many happy years together.
