Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

A Small Protest…

Okay, I know Halloween is tomorrow, but I must confess: I’m so not into Halloween these days. Which is incredibly lame, because I was born on Halloween, but maybe that’s part of the problem.

Anyway, I also must confess that I am a bit oversaturated with all the crafty eyeballs, spiders, and pumpkins at this point, and need this little dose of sugarplums.

I nearly choked on my tea when I spotted this on eBay. Dudes! Citrus slices! And that sleigh? A feat of plastic-canvas engineering.

. . . Speaking of pc-engineering, that napkin holder? Gingerbread man standing in his own fenced enclosure? This is what PC is all about, my friends.

(Oh, wait. I’ve vowed not to use that phrase anymore.)

I’m a little creeped out by the gingerbread guy applying the giant bellows to the photo frame in the foreground. But you gotta love the drapery tiebacks.

I promise not to post any more holiday stuff until a more appropriate time. But maybe a few of my fellow Christmas-freaks will enjoy. (Hi, Kari, Hi, Sarah!)

Oh – and tomorrow, you will see a plastic canvas project that kinda rocks, if I do say so my dang self.

All of that plastic canvas is reminding me of so many Saturday projects that I did when I was a little girl. I used to love that stuff! Awesome :)

  • Love the gingerbread plastic canvas patterns! I haven’t done plastic canvas in years. But still love the stuff people make! I am with you. I can’t stand Halloween! I am always so glad when it is over with. All you ever see on TV this time of year is horror movies! I just wish they would do away with Halloween! I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. Besides all that my brother was buried on Halloween 41 years ago after dying in a tragic accident at the age of 13. So it has always been a sad time of year for my family.

WOW!! Those are awesome pc creations, I would dare say my favorites of all I have seen. You inspire me with all the pc goodness you post, but I still haven’t finished my pc sewing machine cover. I’m just to impatient with my crafting. I keep switching to things that will give me more “instant gratification”. ;P

Anyway…. Happy Birthday to you! Enjoy YOUR day. (It is not Halloween, it is your birth day!!! ;P )

Happy birthday from a fellow Halloween baby! We are not so ‘into’ Halloween here in New Zealand, but the retailers try to promote it as much as possible. Sigh. Anyhow, hope you have a lovely day, I certainly am! Cheers, Diane.

  • Hey, one of my best friends is born on Halloween. I’m going to spend the day with her. Don’t feel bad, she’s not a Halloween lover too much herself. You have a lovely birthday tomorrow, Halloween baby.

  • Hummmmmmmmmm….. I believe I have several pc ornaments on my tree – family heirlooms dating back – oh lets see – 25 years! Two gingerbread houses, a little pig and a jack-in-a-box. May even show up on my blog one day!

Loved the post and especially the gingerbread house. I think one like it should join the other two on my tree this year, don’t you??

Well Thanksgiving isn’t celebrated in Britain too much and halloween isn’t soo big here – although is more than it used to be , however we do have bonfire/fireworks/guy fawkes night on/around (many big displays are on nearest weekend) 5th Nov to mark when Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the houses of parliment in 1605 which is really fun (except from if idiots get hold of fireworks), lots of firework displays and bonfires, warm soup, local cider (which is alchoholic here), toffee apples, fair stalls like coconut shys and wearing gloves to use sparklers!

“Remember Remember the Fifth of November
    Gunpowder, Treason and Plot,
There is no reason why Gunpowder and Treason
    should ever be Forgot”

Christmas stuff seems to be everywhere already, I hate the long commericial build up to christmas, more than halloween, Christmas lights in the shopping centres give me headaches :( (Such a kill joy eh?)

Happy Birthday! I love Halloween but I can’t wait for it to be over. I already have my Christmas tree ready to be put out, lol. Seriously it will go up on Tuesday or Wednesday. I love the book. That gingerbread house is so cute.

  • I love it, what a nice break from the endless Halloween costumes I’m seeing all over the place. I almost hate to go out to shop.

Anyhow, I love the gingerbread house, it’s amazing, but I’m seriously digging those coasters withe the simple candy borders.

My grandmother was heavily into PC when I was a teenager and I still have the train she made and a hand-build ceramic gingerbread house my mom made, which I just rediscovered this summer in the garage.

    Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
    Keep Stitching,
    Janet

Hope you get all you wish for!!
