Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

A Yo-Yo Love Story

(Blogging with a big smile this morning . . .)

Here’s the other birthday book I picked up at Kinokuniya. ISBN 978-4-8275-4323-0. Yo-yo motifs! Swoon . . .

Seriously, I could show you everything in this book as a favorite, but I’ll try to exercise some restraint. Look at these cover models! Those yo-yo ornaments! The placemat edging! Those hair combs! (Ever seen the flower-shaped yo-yo maker?)

There’s a whole primer on how different sections of a patterned fabric will result in different yo-yo designs. Worth its weight in gold.

Another take on a yo-yo bag. So sweet and simple. And those are some teeny tiny yo-yos.

Speaking of teeny tiny, I could not love this little yo-yo adorned gift card more. Soooooo many ideas floating around in my brain for these.

I also love this scarf and glove embellishment dearly. The print yo-yos on the plain scarf: a genius touch. And the gloves combine the yo-yos with a ribbon rosette, which adds nice texture.

Isn’t this a quintessential example of Japanese craft-book photo styling? A vintage cross. Woodland animals. apples. All part of this complete breakfast?

Anyway, I have yo-yos on the brain lately. I blame the Clover Yo-Yo Maker. In a good way.
