So, this magazine hit newsstands just before Halloween, and I’ve been dying to share it with you. ‘Cuz it’s about holidays! And it’s more or less time to begin blogging about them!

I really like lots of things about Holiday Decorating Ideas, starting with its beautifully simple art direction. So many holiday magazines are visually cluttered, featuring photo spreads packed to the gills with gew-gaws. In this one, you can actually focus on the projects. Aren’t those decoupaged votive holders cool? They’re by Amanda Chaloupka.

I’m also thrilled with the diversity of crafts here – the projects involve sewing, gold-leafing, crochet, origami, embossing velvet, embroidery, stamping, beading, and plenty of others. There are simple things, like Kayte Terry‘s sparkling beaded icicles, on up to major undertakings like Ariel Price’s ribbon-appliqued drapes.
The projects are all designed to be festive, but not overtly “Christmas.” They could work as decor for the entire winter season.

It’s also cool to see the work of so many craft bloggers in one magazine. Susan made these gorgeous napkin rings. Cassi has some charming garlands. Linda contributed a crochet-embellished pillowcase. Kayte has several projects, including a gingerbread cookie mobile. Kathy contributed bright, cheery wall hangings. Alicia embroidered a sweet sheet set.

And hey! I’m in here, too! Coolest thing in the world, to be in a holiday magazine.

Okay, I may be bugging you with a comment on every single post, but you just keep doing it.
I have this issue, and also the one about gifts to make, and also the one…
okay, my point is, don’t you LOVE their candle globes?! You know what I loved? Those simple but elegant framed stencils. The decorations in here are sweet, festive, and simple. They give the room light and life! And you don’t have a staff to get them done!
Well, except for me, because I’m busy baking…
