Tutorials of Christmas Past

in Holiday Crafts, Tutorials

So, it’s another one of those deadline-smashup weeks, and I don’t have much time to blog. But Hope had a great suggestion – why not link back to some holiday tutorial things I’ve done in the past? It’s been a whole year – maybe it’ll all seem new to you again!

First up, we have these Yarn Stars – a variation on the yarn dolls.

This Ric Rac Ornament involves a little sewing and some glass-head pins.

. . . And then we have the Salt Dough Ornaments, which make use of your cookie cutter collection.

This Celebration Candle is quite meditative to make. A fun group project, too.

Here’s a fun little trick for Recycled Holiday Wrap.

. . . And a gift for the neighborhood birds: Pinecone Bird Feeders. (Hey, look – the sun did shine here last winter!)

Hope you enjoy ‘em. Back to work with me…. Thanks, Hope!

  • Hey, thanks for the reminder on the woven holiday wrap - I loved that idea!
  • New to me as a new reader/listener! I love the yarn stars especially!
  • Diane --

I love the yarn stars and just a day or so I was bemoaning the size of my stash and wishing I had some things to do to use up all that thread,

Now you remembered this and have saved me from drowning in thread.

I'm thinking about using overdyed threads in combination with coordinating threads and colors to make multi-colored yarn stars.

But given how my month is shaping up, I'll probably not ever think about it until February or so.

    Keep Stitching,
    Janet
  • Those pastel dough ornaments are looking ever more tasty THIS year than before! xoxoxo
  • I LOVE that ric rac ball! And the pinecone birdfeeder brings back lots of memories :)
  • salt dough ornaments? Are you KIDDING? I have cookie cutters out the behind! I'm going to be making these.
  • Oh, yes! That candle... I still have mine by the bed - still all white and shiny ready for your tutorial and my magic... maybe this is the time?

Love all of these! How fun! I agree, it's always good to repost these things because plenty of folks missed them the first round. Great ideas!

    Cheers,
    Margot
