Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Post-Xmas Giveaway!

Welcome back, everyone! Hope you had a splendid Christmas. I thought we’d brighten this back-to-work day (for many of you) with a giveaway.

The nice people at STC Craft/Melanie Falick Books have donated a copy of Zakka Sewing, which is an adorable book. You can check out a nice gallery of projects over here.

So, post a comment here before noon PST on Wednesday, December 31, and tell me what you think “Zakka” means. I’ll draw a winner at random. International readers are welcome, too.

***UPDATE**** D’OH! Many thanks to all those who pointed out my typo. I had no intention of running this drawing through January 31st as originally posted. It’s supposed to be December 31st.

Please leave an email address with your comment – otherwise, how can I let you know if you win?

Good Luck!

Congratulations to Katie! I’ll be shipping her the book just as soon as I have the address. Happy New Year, all!

I don’t know “eg-zakka-ly” what the word means but the book looks great!

I’m pretty sure Zakka means “awesome”, or at the very least “painfully cute”. This looks like a great book!

  • By the way, Diane, did you know that you said “Wednesday, January 31st” and not December 31st? I just now noticed myself, though I think everyone understood you to mean today and not a month from now.

  • I’m taking a guess on this, I think Zakka means “simple”! But I am sure I am absolutely wrong! :-p

Whatever it means, I sure love anything zakka! :-) Have a happy new year, Diane! xoxo!
