The Buttony Goodness continues over at CraftStylish!
This is my most recent tutorial there – making Singleton Buttons. They’re a very old form of fabric-covered button, which requires only a plastic ring and a needle and thread. I love the possibilities of these babies – for one thing, an awesome way to make use of those precious tiny scraps of fabric.
I’m playing around with some made from necktie at the moment. Will show you soon.
Some other recent faves from Button Month: Erika Kern’s freakin’ beautiful button-covered pillow, Linda Permann’s polymer clay buttons, and Jennifer Worick’s button and ribbon choker.

I have to give special mention here to Linda’s button coasters, too – just look at the weaving! And then, go over to DudeCraft and see Paul’s interpretation. Wow.

Oh, I love the pillow, and love love love the covered buttons! Those are Way beyond cute.
Is it okay to point to my own button bracelets? You can delete this, if not! I don’t want to do anything that isn’t totally kosher.

Wow. Dudecraft has a bitchin coaster. All of these projects are very cool. I have not been a big saver of buttons, since I don’t sew, but lately I’ve been asking everyone to save me some buttons. I’m also picking them up when I can. Those small flat ones used for coasters are ubiquitous. Thanks for these great ideas!

I am completely and totally smitten with the covered buttons. Oh my.
I’ve accumulated about a thousand (well, okay, maybe like 50) of those rings and never knew what the heck they were for. Too thick to use for stitch markers, what the…?! Now I know! Thanks a bunch!

Hey! I meant to tell you that I’ve been loving your button-making tutorials on CraftStylish. How fun!! Great way to use up scraps, too. I was thinking of using the little rings on plastic soda bottles instead of the rings you suggested… If/when I try it, I’ll let you know. :o) ta ta!

Wow, so THAT’S what those plastic rings are for! I have a few of those that I’ve accumulated over the years of picking up old bags of buttons at the thrift shop and yard sales and the like. I always half-imagined they might be for hanging curtains…or something. Now I’ve gotta make myself some singleton buttons. Thanks, Diane!
