My favourite sewing project is BAGS. I’ve just started making them – can’t have enought.

My favourite sewing project was a pair of trousers I made in grade 10. My top stitching was the staightest in the class – and I did it the fastest too! Unfortunately, I melted a hole in them when I tried to iron them. And so, my favourite sewing project is really a wall hanging of sunflowers, bees and a beehive, also done in grade 10.

My favourite sewing project was my baby’s layette.. not the old fashioned heirloom layette, but everything for baby… diapers, diaper covers, receiving blankets, diaper shirts, burp clothes, wipes, dresses, bloomers, bibs, booties, everything including a diaperbag.. from free patterns and instructions on the internet , all sewn by myself while i was pregnant. I’m pretty proud of that one..
This book seems so cool and i would love to own it. Thanks for this chance to win it.

Home ec? Yeah, not so much! I really just took up sewing in the last few years. I’d done things like curtains before, but really, putting a tab on a curtain isn’t that hard. So as I picked up sewing I found that I really love making clothes for my kids. There is something magical for me watching them run around in something I was able to create! Joy, truly:)

Great giveaway — thank you! My favourite would have to be Susan Beal’s A-line skirt. It was my first successful project, after a lot of disasters that left me feeling like a sewing loser. She made it so easy — I started to enjoy garment sewing, and think in terms of improvisation — and I still get compliments on that first skirt that I made three years ago!

i love to sew and have been since about 4th grade so choosing one would be hard. i do remember certain things more. in high school i made a winter white wool tent dress with a sassy little hat to match (for church we had to wear hats). i had orange and white spectator pumps and purse and absolutely thought i was “it”. of course, all my clothes for that year matched the shoes and purse-wish i still had them!!

This is a hard one! I would have to say my favourite sewing project was a pair of trousers I made back when I was about 16. I wore them everywhere! And they were my own design so I was extra proud of them :)

My favorite sewing project is one that I recently completed for an SPCA fundraiser. It was a quilted tote made entirely of thrifted neckties. I spent hours piecing the ties together. The bonus was meeting the lovely lady that won it. She let me know all the reasons she loved it and how happy she was to win it. That was cool!

I love to make anything for my kids. They are still at an age that they appreciate it & think it’s cool!

I guess it would be the life-sized Raggedy Ann, not made by me, but by my mother. She made them for me and my sister when we were little, and she was my pillow every night because I loved her so much. Then I got the flu. The stains never came out. :( When I was 23, she made me a new one for Valentine’s Day. She died a year later. Now, the clean (barf-free!) Raggedy Ann lives in my little girl’s room, and is a wonderful link to her grandmother in heaven.
I wish I was the seamstress she was, but maybe I can get better if I get this book! ;) Thanks for the opportunity!

My favorite sewing project? That’s a difficult question as I loved making quilts, clothes, dolls… etc. But maybe it would be the patchwork skirt I once made? Because it’s so different from anything people wear and still so ME! I’d looove this book – it has clothes in it and that’s what I want to make right now!

My first big project was with one of the “crafty” neighbor ladies (my mom wasn’t crafty but I followed the crafty women in the hood). I was in my first year of high school and I made a blue, small wale corduroy, A-line, long jumper. It was like overalls. I wore it forever and lived in it when I lived out in the country and never wore pants. I kept it until recently, holding on to it for sentimental reasons, as I grew out of it years ago. The fabric was a little thin in spots but it held up well considering that was about 40 years ago!

Loved your review of Weekend Sewing and hearing about everyone’s favorite sewing projects! My beginning sewing instruction was from my mom and a middle school home ec. class. My favorite project was a long skirt my mom and I made from a pattern before my first year of high school, we finished it just in time for me to wear on the first day of school. I still wear it sometimes! I just got my first sewing machine and would love a book like Weekend Sewing to show me the ropes again!

I get comments on it every time i wear it. my friend calls it my pink and chocolate dress. you can’t tell in the picture but it even has a little bit of a crinoline attached to the lining. it reminds me [slightly] of the pageant dresses my mom used to make for me when i was 5. but somehow this dress is much more empowering and feminine. i was able to reclaim my girliness by making this dress.
this book sounds pretty awesome, too. I’m fairly self-taught as a seamster. I think i could get a lot of tips from this book to clean up my sewing.

Recently returned to sewing, but didn’t want to make things that I couldn’t give away and ended up in the closet. I chose to make walker bags. I use heavy material or neckties. I have had no problem finding folks that need them and appreciate them.

I would have to say a long refashioned denim skirt I made out of pants, back before that was a fashion statement! I would LOVE Weekend Sewing, more than you know. Crossing my fingers.

I made my mom and MIL table runners not very far into beginning sewing. It was pretty great to feel so successful. I’ve heard fabulous stuff about the book! Thanks for sharing!

Oh! I think I need this book! My favorite sewing project I think has to be a vest I made as a teenager. I was so proud of it. It was so 80′s, large floral pattern, pink silky lining.

Guess I’ll jump on the bandwagon, too. My favorite sewing projects were always the ones with me choosing the patterns and fabrics and my mom doing the sewing. The pièce de résistance? My wedding dress, of course.
Of my own sewing, the first success was sweet: An early 1990s red flannel dress with black buttons worn at Christmas. Made me look like a giant red-hot :)

My prom dress–white organza with a ruffled neckline and a ruffle down the front…my mom spent hours on it. Me? I’m just beginning to sew and the projects in this book look delicious and within my skill set!

Favorite…I always seem to love what I’m planning next!! Most proud…a self portrait art quilt…I never realized how hard it would be. I would love this book. Since it first came out, I have been hinting to my hubby that it would be the best Mom’s day gift!!

My favorite sewing project was the dinosaur bunting that I made for my son’s first birthday. It was my first sewing project as an adult and I was so proud of the finished product.
