Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Resource Roundup #16

Here’s a bunch of goodies for you to enjoy while I finish up my taxes.

If you can get to DC on May 1st – 3rd, then don’t miss the Summit of Awesome, hosted by Hello Craft. They’ve just announced their lineup of speakers and workshops. This promises to be a great weekend of indie craft education and fun.

Space, by the way, is limited, so register soon!

I’ve been looking at recycled crafts a lot lately, and am very impressed with the work of Recycled by Hyena. She makes clothing and bags from fabrics she’s reclaimed from thrift-store garments, and then adds intriguing crochet and embroidered elements. Really beautiful craftsmanship, too.

Her crochet jewelry is intriguing as well. Check it out!

April is Crafting With Nature month over at the CRAFT blog. So far, some great projects. I adore this Nature Can by Megan Heep. It’s designed to carry all those rocks, mosses, and other goodies kids pick up on nature walks.

There’s also Susan’s Woodgrain Baby Gifts, for starters. And more to come this month!

And then lastly, I recently discovered a fun online magazine called PassiFlora. It’s about eco-friendly living, crafting, and vegetarian cooking. There are great articles, tutorials, and recipes. online, and new issues come out bi-monthly.
