Recent Scoooooooooores!

It’s an indicator of just how insane April was: I got a bunch of wonderful things at the Knittn’ Kitten during the Big Crafty Weekend, but I didn’t get around to unpacking the bag until yesterday.

So, I got some ric rac, because I always do. And I also stumbled upon these fab ric rac rosebuds. They’re hand-stitched together in a spiral – but I’m not sure how they keep this cool domed shape. Any ideas?

I also joined the feeding frenzy for more Czech glass buttons! Locals, if you haven’t gone in and checked these out, you are missing something unbelievable.

I love the stripe pattern in these, and how it gently waves.

Yes, I know I bought a lot of baby blue buttons on my last visit, but they weren’t these baby blue buttons. I also needed these. It was very important.

I left this photo dark in order to capture some of this pretty iridescence. These are even more colorful in person.

Another interesting score was this stitchery kit.

It’s essentially a felt softie, with every inch covered in crewel embroidery. I love the charming, hand-drawn instructions. I’ll likely never make the kit, but I’m definitely intrigued at the idea of embroidery-covered softies!

Your button mojo is incredible lately.

I'm totally curious about those ric rac rosebuds, too! I found this tutorial for two kinds of roses, but they aren't just like yours. Then AHA! I found this tutorial ... and I think we have a winner. :)

I was going to have you send me pix of the sides and bottoms of the rosebuds, but Googling is so much easier than reverse engineering. :)
  • LOVE the rose buds...

Man - I'm ennamored with those rick-rack rose buds. I hope someone points you to the instructions.

The instructions one of your readers pointed out are too cute, too! Gotta get me some rick-rack!
  • Holy cow, those ric-rac flower buds are amaaaaaazing! They would be so cool strung into some jewelry, no? How inspiring!!
  • Those iridescent buttons are very pretty! Great scores!

I have to explain purchases like this to Mr. Hybridhopes all the time.
  • That softie kit IS intriguing! Good find.
  • Hey Diane--I've been wondering, how do you store your buttons? My mother uses an old-school dentist cabinet, but that's not really an option for most of us.
