I’m crafting hard on a big project right now, so here are some interesting things from around the web I’ve been saving up…

CHA has just revamped its consumer website, Craftplace.org. Check it out – there’s a craft store locator, some craft projects and tips, surveys and discussion groups, and lots of links.

Back in this podcast, we talked about how indie crafters can communicate with the crafts industry. Well, participating in this website is one way.

Next up. I highly recommend you read this Soul Motivation post on Dudecraft. It’s not often that a blog post grabs me like this.

In the post, Paul talks about the huge volume of content in the craft community that focuses on making money with crafts. And he eloquently points out that the most successful artists and crafters he knows pay far more attention to their craftsmanship and creative development than monetization.

Well said, Paul.

People who work with color, especially for web and design applications, might dig Colorotate, a new color tool that operates in 3D. You can browse or build palettes, and adjust and blend colors endlessly. Doing this in a 3D space apparently comes closer to the way our brains natively process colors.

…And the Learn About Color section of the website is fascinating.

Lastly, if you’re near Brooklyn, check out the Summer classes at 3rd Ward. Looks like Etsy is running a cool series of craft classes, including things like etching on metal, screen printing, bookbinding, and tech crafts.
