Resource Roundup #21

Here are some webby goodies I’ve been saving for ya…

Did you know that an estimated 95% of fabric buyers shop at big-box fabric stores? How sad, when there are so many great independents out there!

Be sure and check out Project 95, an effort to get more fabric-lovers supporting local indie stores. They have an awesome interactive map to help you find them in your area.

Locally, let me shout out my favorite indies: Cool Cottons, Bolt, and The Knittn’ Kitten.

Swap-O-Rama-Rama, the much-loved effort to help people trade and transform old clothes, is up for a grant in the Grant For Change Program. It needs your vote, and it only takes a moment.

If you’ve never been to a Swap-O-Rama-Rama, it transforms consumers into creators. The event, now in over 60 cities world wide, has recycled hundreds of thousands of pounds of clothing. Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a one-woman show, produced by the wonderful Wendy Temayne. This grant would be most helpful to her.

Just link over here, and click to make your rating/vote.

It’s that time again… the Chronicle Books Friends and Family Sale! Order online at their website, and use the coupon code FRIENDS at check out. You’ll get 35% off all titles, plus free shipping. Woo!

  • Thank you so much, Diane, for posting about Project 95. I love especially that you mentioned some of your favorite indy shops! We're working out all the kinks in that data, refining the search and developing new resources for both shoppers and shops–so we'll make sure to keep you in the loop as that progresses.

    Thanks again!
