Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Getting back to what’s REALLY important…

I know what you’re thinking…

“Sure, Diane, that’s all well and good about that whole book thing, but WHEN are you going to get back to blogging about plastic canvas?!”

Well, at Urban Craft Uprising I got to meet Dawnise, who, in addition to being awesome, gifted me with some great PC stuff, including this magazine. Say what you will about that clown – I assure you that it, like Rome, was not built in a day.

Naked Leg Puppets? Queen and King of the Can-Can?

…But this one is freaking amazing – a new height of PC engineering. You require a closer look, I can tell.

See? Turning the 2D into the 3D. How is that done?

…By making a complex little cut, and then gathering the tops and bottoms together. I’m sorry, that’s absolutely genius.

I’m quite liking the cut-outs here, and the complexity of the snowflake. I might try something like this with my itty-bitty 14 count PC.

See, things like this are very helpful, because I’d totally mistake it for a pencil otherwise.

And then, just to haunt your dreams a little, here’s something I picked up from tinyrat a while back. A PC portrait, my friends, of Christopher Walken.

The shop is empty right now, but when I scored this, the artist also had portraits of Mr. T, Jackie Onassis, and Bob Ross.

…And you thought this medium had no creative potential.
