I’ve been dancing around needle felting for a while now. I totally want to get into this craft, but I fear that when I do, it’ll take over my life.
In what may be an act of fate, Laurie Sharp stopped by my demo at Urban Craft Uprising and introduced herself. She gave me a copy of her beautiful book, Wool Pets. And now I really, really want to start needle-felting!

Laurie’s critters are freaking adorable. And she’s created a great reference that breaks these shapes down into simple components, so they’re easy to reproduce, or build upon.

Each design has very clear step-by-step photos. Laurie’s husband, Kevin, did a bang-up job on the photography.

More cuteness!

…And more! You can see lots more images of Laurie’s work at her website, where she also has kits and roving – from her own sheep!

One of my favorite parts of the book is this little gnome design. I’m pretty dang impressed with the facial sculpting here.
I wonder if I could take some kind of year-long needle-felting sabbatical?
