Locals, I’m asking for your help.
Many of you know and love The Knittn’ Kitten, PDX’s own craft supply thrift store. We’re awfully lucky to have a place like this in town, and in fact, quite a few indie craft businesses here rely on The Kitten’s low prices to help them stay afloat.
Well, sadly, foot traffic has been very slow at the store this summer, and co-owners Ethel and Rome aren’t sure how much longer they can keep the doors open at this rate.
If you love The Kitten, now is the time to act. Make a trip over to the store, and shop. Even $5.00 will make a difference.
If you’ve always been meaning to go check it out, now is the time to put that in your calendar. It’s well worth the trip, I promise – every single time I go, I make some kind of fantastic crafty score.
Besides, now’s also a good time to stock up on supplies for your holiday gift-making, and prices at The Kitten are always phenomenally low.
Whatever craft you do, they have stuff for it – fabrics, notions, yarn, embroidery supplies, beads, buttons, books and patterns, vintage linens, and on and on.
It would be a tremendous loss for the community if The Kitten were to close. Please don’t let this happen!

This is the first I’m hearing about The Kitten. I’m totally heading there this weekend and will pass on this info to everyone I know!

Wow, it looks like an awesome gem of a store, what a great idea! I checked their website and was sort of bummed to see they don't have a way to shop online (I guess that's a lot to ask of a thrifty sort of shop) I also couldn't find their e-mail to write them to wish them luck. BUT, if you could have them e-mail ME I could help them set up an online store for FREE! I think indie crafty thrifty shops should prosper! Plus, I'd love to be able to visit them, except I live waaay down in Texas. Thanks for telling us, I'll definately try to spread the word.

Thanks for the shop info. Stopped in yesterday on my errands and will definitely stop in regularly. It's right in my area, and somehow, I hadn't stopped in yet. Great bits of ribbon, fabrics, beads, etc.
Another way they could use a hand: they accept donations of craft supplies, so if you're looking to destash, this would be a wonderful way to find your treasures a new home!

Anna thanks for the good wishes. We have so many “one of a kind “things that my Portland customers would be short changed if I pulled them and sold them on line.
