Ebook Review: Small Stitches

The awesome indie crafty publishing continues! Carina has just released an ebook (or, ebooklette) – Small Stitches, a lovely primer for people who want to dive into embroidery.

There are photo how-to’s for 11 stitches here, including Satin Stitch, Running Stitch, French Knots, Daisy Stitch, Buttonhole, and others. Carina also offers up a nice Basics section, covering materials and transferring a design to fabric.

In addition, there are nine cute embroidery patterns to get you started with all these stitches. (I love this one, which uses Buttonhole Wheel stitch.) They’re all perfect for adding a little custom embellishment to other projects – in fact, one of the patterns is a full alphabet of cross-stitch letters.

The photography is excellent, the instruction is very clear and concise, and the book design is really charming. If you know someone who wants to learn this craft, here’s an perfect, affordable introduction.

You can get more of a sneaky peek over here. And rumor has it there might be – ahem – a giveaway -ahem- soon…
