Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Ebook Review: Make and Takes Monster Mania

I think Make and Takes Monster Mania is a jim-dandy example of digital publishing. (I’m so excited about it, I’m using phrases like “jim-dandy.”)

This ebook is by Marie LeBaron, of Make and Takes fame. Marie is an educator and a mom, and she’s compiled a wonderful group of projects to do with young children.

Why the monster theme? “Monsters are very playful, imaginary creatures,” says Marie.

This ebook is very impressive from a technical standpoint. It’s formatted on the horizontal, and designed for easy screen-reading. There are 70 pages, including full project instructions, templates, supply lists, learning objectives, and a nice intro section about crafting with kids.

Every page of this thing is packed with good value – and it’s a screaming deal at just $7.00.

(Aren’t these Hairy Monster Hands the best?)

I also love the project set – it spans a wide variety of crafts. There are costume-style projects, like the ones above, and games, and paper projects, and puppets, and even some food crafts. Like this adorable Spooky Monster House.

If you have some kids at home, here’s entertainment for the whole month of October! Definitely check this one out.
