Free Projects at The Knittn’ Kitten!

Hey, Locals – today kicks off a very cool weekly event at The Knittn’ Kitten.

As I mentioned a while back, The Kitten could really use some support from the crafting community. So a group of us got together, and each week one of us is offering a free project sheet at the store.

With the holidays starting to loom, we figured folks would be looking for gift ideas to make. So, stop in each week and ask Ethel or Rome for the free project. Starting today, you can get the how-to for Heather’s awesome, Anthropologie-inspired applique necklace.

(Rumor has it, there’s even a bonus project.)

And while you’re there, you can score the supplies on the cheap.

If you’d like to plan ahead, here are all the participants and when their project will be in store:

(Isn’t this a cool idea? It’s the brainchild of Christine, one of many local indie designers who relies on The Kitten for her business.)

So, stop in often, won’t you? 7530 NE Glisan, Tuesday – Saturday 10-6.

  • I'm seconding the request for online patterns!
Perhaps once all of the patterns have been released into the world, they could be bundled up electronically and sold to further benefit the store?
What a wonderful store idea, I would literally shop there every week if I had one in my neighbourhood.

Well, there's good news! We are indeed planning to release a free
ebook of all these projects when the promotion ends in November. Stay
    tuned, as they say...
  • Wish I lived there! What a great idea and how wonderful to have real community support!

Any chance the patterns will be offered online for those of us (way) east of Portland?
  • SisterDiane
Hmmm... We haven't talked about putting them online, but maybe we
could. Let me check in with the group...
  • That is such a FABULOUS idea! Both the shop, and the projects. I only found out about the Knittin' Kitten recently, otherwise I might have chose different hotels during my recent Portland trips. =) I'll be mentioning this, and hopefully stopping in early next year!

What a lovely, generous gesture extended by so many of our most excellent Portland crafty geniuses!

Great support for "the Kitten" - one of my most favorite places to shop for crafting and sewing supplies. My husband NEVER complains when I shop there - he just loves that I come home with a great big bag of crafty goodness and I made a very small entry in the checkbook!
