Giveaway (but I’m putting you to work for it): Stencil 101 Decor

in Crafty Community

Hey, Gang, put on your thinking caps for this one…

Juliann Krute, aka The Sick Chick, is organizing a charity effort to collect craft supplies and handmade items for people with chronic illness. (Do you remember Juliann’s podcast from earlier this year?)

Originally, she called this project The Sick Chick Crafts for Causes, but now wants to change the name. (She has people helping with the project now, and the name “Crafting for Causes” is already taken.)

This is where you come in. And it’s also where the giveaway comes in!

Post a comment here, suggesting a new name for Juliann’s project. It should express creativity and support for people with chronic illness. Juliann will select a winner, who will receive a copy of Stencil 101 Decor.

UPDATED TO ADD: Entries are now closed. Juliann is making her decision, and I’ll notify the winner soon. Thanks for all your great suggestions, everyone!

  • Ohhh, I adore "Crafting Dignity"! Good on you!
  • The “Crafting for Causes” name seems like a misnomer anyways. As I understand it, the idea isn't for people to do crafts to support people who are sick, but to give craft supplies to sick people so that they can do crafts themselves. If that's not right, please set me straight. But in the event that it's right, my suggestion is: "Crafting Towards Wellness"

Actually, it's both: to craft things to support people with illness & show that people care AND to give craft supplies to sick people. The latter is less important actually, although in many ways easier timewise.

  • The name Helping Hands came to mind, but I guess I've heard it elsewhere here in Sweden: http://www.helpinghands.org.se/

    Maybe then...

Material Wealth/Health or something along those lines, as it is material being given... Maybe Crafty Material For Health? :-)

Xoxo to both Juliann and Diane!

How about a name like the Healing Arts, or Crafts for Life. I was thinking the name should somehow evoke the healing or life affirming aspects of creating. I know that when I was suffering with my hyper-active thyroid gland and the months of misery as I waited for the treatment to bring some relief to my symptoms that crafting gave me purpose and hope and helped me cope. This is great idea from the Sick Chick. Crafting Hope, maybe?

I have a totally great one! I've been listening to the pod cast about crafting and chronic illness and this name just occurred to me:

    Hope is Handmade

Anyway, the name makes me happy, haha.

Alternatively, you could go with Happiness is Handmade.

  • Great-sounding book! "Chronically Creative"?
  • It works the other way around too: Creatively Chronic!

I'm having lots of fun with this :)

  • I like that! Yep, this really is fun.

I didn't read all the other answers, but how about Chronic Crafting ... short and simple. And I don't think chroniccrafting.com is taken :)

Crafting for the Chronic (both the crafters and those who are ill)
or Chronic Together: Crafting for those with Long-Term Illness. Something like that? They can't stop being ill, crafters can't stop crafting...will keep thinking.
  • Crafts Aid? Crafts Relief? Crafting for Relief? Crafting times of Relief? Crafty Relief? (sorry if any of it sounds weird to natively english-speaking people!).

  • Chronic Crafting: You Don't Have to Get Over It.
  • Chronically Caring, or Chronically Caring Crafters?

Neither, upon a brief google search, appear to be taken.

I have a thing for alliteration, too :)

BTW, thank you so very much for saying international entrants are allowed. It's so FRUSTRATING to want to enter a competition and discover that once again it's barred to non-US or non-US/CA/UK peoples! Yay Craftypod!
