Updated: Congrats to LSS, the winner of this drawing!

So it’s the week between Christmas and New Year’s – a time when traditionally, not much happens. (Unless you work in retail, of course. And if you do, I am sending you good thoughts.)

Anyway. I thought it might be fun to have a week of giveaways here. I have a lot of cool books stacked up – want one?

Today’s prize up for grabs is Kayte Terry’s Applique Your Way, which I reviewed before the holiday.

To enter the drawing, leave a comment here, answering this question:

What one thing would you like to do more of in 2010?

I’ll draw a winner at random on Sunday, January 3rd. International readers, go right ahead. Good Luck!

  • Meditate. I'd like to learn a little stress management, ya know?
  • RoseFineCraftGuilddotcom
I want to complete more & take more (& better) pictures of my own original crafts.

    Happy New Year to ya!
  • alison
    Have more 'me time"!
  • Work on the very ambitious patchwork quilt I started years ago!!
  • jackiecraig
Craft more! It's always the answer....to what I'd love more time to do - but really it's about taking the time to set aside the have-tos and realizing that the want-tos of having creative time are just as essential for my well-being. Thanks for providing the inspirations!
  • Wen
    Quilt and sew!
  • blog more! My boyfriend and I started a blog awhile back, and we were pretty good at writing for awhile. We recently moved into a new house though, and since then we haven't been writing as much. My New Year's Resolution is to simply do more blogging! I think it's a pretty good resolution!
  • kkimberly
I would like to make more clothes, and spend more time on my bigger, unfinished projects BEFORE I start any new ones!
  • Alissa
I'd like to do more sewing! I've recently used reading all the great blogs for inspiration as an excuse to not do any actual sewing. I also moved my sewing stuff to another room and have used the fact it's not set up completely as an excuse to avoid. Enough! It's supposed to be fun, not something I avoid. I think I'll head off right now to finish a couple UFOs.
  • Hi!
I would like to take care of myself more, which is a pretty big job including eating better, exercising more, taking all my tablets, learning relaxation techniques, etc etc!
    Love as always,
    Katie.
  • Helen
I would like to do more sewing and more crafting, but i would also like to find more time to devote to my poor neglected garden. It looks pretty at the moment coz it's summer here but it is a jungle, and very scruffy in winter.
  • I really want to scrapbook more!
  • Tiffany Rosson
I would like to do more crafting. Sounds simple but I need to make "dates" with myself to sit down and do the things I enjoy instead of reading about them on everyone's blog! I enjoy the pride of having created something myself but often put other less joyful things ahead of my crafty time.
  • katiebaker
i'd like to actually complete some of the projects i start !
  • janejennings
Please, Please, I want to have time for more sewing!!
    Janey
  • Barb S
I'd like to live with more purpose, more intention.
  • Karren Hiskey
I want to take more time to do the things that make me happy: being creative, sewing, enjoying the great outdoors and spending time with loved ones.
  • Definitely sewing...and hiking...but not at the same time~! Thanks!
  • I'd like to have more time to sew, a lot!
  • I'd like to do more eating.

    okay, not really.

I'd like to do more sewing. As I don't sew yet and just now got a sewing machine, that should be easy to do. Should I pick something hard to do? Okay.
I'd like to do more talking and emailing and posting long blog posts that exhaust my readers and make them wonder what they ever did with their time before I came along. Is that better?

You're right. I'll stick with the sewing thing.
  • SEW, CREATE, and CRAFT more! Find the time with my two toddlers to do it all!
  • Do more! Period.

  • I'd like to Scrapbook more often.
  • bradyh
I would like to do more quilting in 2010. My goal is to pump out one a month! We'll see if I can stick to it.
  • In 2010 I want to slow down more - so less busy work things and more of what is meaningful to me! Pretty vague I know, but we have lots of big changes coming up this year LOL!
  • I would like to do more reading in 2010. Also, more cuddling with my hottie boyfriend.
  • KirstyC
More quilting - and learn applique!
  • h.
I want to do more crafting with friends. I think I do too much of my work alone, and have a tendency to use my art to isolate myself instead of drawing in friends and family to join me.
  • I would like to do more active outdoorsy stuff...
  • Donna C
I would definitely like to do more quilting in 2010. I have so many projects lined up - at least SOME of them deserve to be finished!
  • artsycraftsy4fun
I would like to have the opportunity to sew more often! And I'd also like to be able to help out in my local community more often
  • michaelhawkins

I'd love more time pain-free for sewing
  • I would like to do more of what I like in 2010- That would be sewing, other crafts, and scrapbooking!
  • Sue
I'd like to use my evenings for crafty projects and creative pursuits. Less TV, more photography/knitting/sewing.
  • Linda
I'd like to do more knitting, possibly try my hand at designing a pattern. I'd also like to get back into garment sewing. I keep buying patterns and fabric, now I just need to set aside time at the sewing machine!
  • Lavina
On a creative level, I'd like to really work on finding my own voice as an artist.
  • Paula
I want to quilt more in 2010! I moved this year and there was a lot going on, and quilting was put on the back burner, sadly ... I miss it!

    Thanks for the giveaway!
  • I'd like to do more cooking in 2010, proper fun cooking, rather than just-get-ourselves-fed cooking. Also, I really must learn to sew! Great giveaway, thanks!
  • For some reason 2009 was a stay-at-home-year. Next year I want to travel much more and visit all the friends I neglected in 2009. And of course more crafting would be fine, too, but I doubt that I'll have the time.
  • I know it is cliche but I would like to do ore exercise in 2010 as a way to be healthier as well as set aside time for myself. I had a baby 15 months ago and would love to designate some time just for me to go swimming or go to yoga classes. Being the nerd I am I have already made a spread sheet of all the classes out there I'm interested in so I can drop in when I have a free afternoon or evening. Wish me luck and best luck to everyone else and they new year's plans.
    thanks for sharing!
  • Mistakes. I hope to make more mistakes (well, not only mistakes, hopefully), as it would mean I *make* more things, rather than just planning them or dreaming of them perfect!
  • mia

  • Janet C
I would like to use my sewing machine more!

  • Michelle
I'm just a beginner, but I would love to do more sewing. I wish there were some classes nearby. I also will be working out more in 2010!
  • Angela
I want to start putting some of the crafty ideas that I have discovered from the neat podcasts I've been listening to, into action. I've got the best reason to make some lovely things - my first niece or nephew is due to arrive in May. My first knitting project was finished on Christmas Day (with lots of help from Grandmother-to-be) so things have started moving in the right direction. Thanks for the inspiration!
  • I would like to blog reliably all year in 2010. In fact if I was (were?) going to have a resolution, that would be it.
  • Bridget
I would like to see more of my family and friends, maybe make a start on moving closer to them again.
  • sharianne
I would like to embrace the 'imperfect effort' in 2010...to put the energy spent fretting about a less-than-stellar effort into 'doing'! When I think of all the projects I haven't started or ideas that were never pursued because they might not 'be perfect', I wonder how many would have brought joy and crafty fulfillment?
  • clairevoskuhl
I'd like to complete more projects than I start in 2010 and in the process enter more online challenges.
  • Raija1
Let my creative side become my creative 'whole'! I'm creating a baby (due in July) but want to have lots of other projects completed by then - while I still have time!
  • morganewilson
Collect many more craft books! And perhaps see if anyone would ever pay money for anything I've made.
  • Since I have a newborn and a 4 year old, I think I need to relax more. I'm to hard on myself when it comes to creating/crafts. I want to do more more more. But I need to slow down. So slowing down.
  • Debbie St. Germain
I want to make more quilts and use my machine more, or to be exact, learn how to use it.

    Debbie
  • Claudia
I'd like to practice sewing more.
  • WoefulWednesday
I would like to set up my craft room and practice sewing more in 2010.
  • i'd like to do more art in 2010. i am going to try to get into the habit of doing at least a sketch every day, hopefully more...
i also want to eat healthier ...more fresh fruits and veggies.

thank you for the chance :)
  • bookscout27

  • jpusel
I'd like to o more quilting
  • Martha
I want to make more, but more than anything, I want to break the back of my stash!
  • Thats an easy question, SEWING of course! I'm an apparel design major and I sew quite a bit, but seriously I can never get enough of it! It is so much fun. I also wish I had more time to read and do other fun crafts. They are on my new year resolutions list. Make more time for reading, sewing, and crafting. Now hopefully it comes true!
  • More Uni work! Haha, I've been doing too much crafting. Not that you can really do too much.... which is why I would love to win this book!
  • Sue
I'd like to spend more time sewing and making things
  • Pearliepie
All of the crafty ideas I get for myself get pushed to the back burner, so 2010 is the year of making just for me! I have a huge list already- some of the ideas are things I've been thinking about making for years.
  • More picnics! Going out with my young family for new experiences and making a delicious lunch to enjoy for all of us to make being together a memorable event
  • I would definitely like to sew more in 2010! It's been difficult to find time what with being a graduate student and working, but I'm really hoping it will happen!
  • crochetdg
I would like to balance reading, crochet and writing poetry so that I don't feel like I'm neglecting these three things that I love.
  • Liz
I would like to do more smiling at silly things.
  • Casey
I would like to spend more time outdoors with my husband and new baby!
  • kaye

  • Kirstin Juul

  • Sew, sew, and sew! :)
  • wintu nancy
    get more organized...
  • maria_jose
I should say exercise, but in a crafty way of thinking I'm saying actual knitting.... I'm a design consultant for Rowan, and I teach classes, explain stitches, but actual knitting, I don't do much
  • debbiekidd
I want to cook more and try to get better at it.
  • Marci
I want to craft more! I spend lots of time reading blogs and not enough time making things! 2010 will be my year!!!
  • Jason Millward
I really want to do more volunteer work. I'm really looking forward to that.
  • I have to pick just one! Then I pick Walking around Portland! That combines the exercise with the exploration. :)
  • I'd really like to start blogging regularly, and posting work in progress pictures (maybe that will motivate me to finish more of them!).

And it would be nice to get more reno done around my apartment. But that would totally take a back seat to applique if I won this book! ;)
  • LSS

  • SallyOD
I would like to do more hand sewing.
  • Stephanie
More dates with my husband, more hanging out with my boys, more playing music with friends!

  • Tish
I want to do more applique this year - no joke! I'm terrible at it and would love to get better and more comfortable with it, so this would be amazing for me to win!

  • MelodyJ

  • I want to save more money...
my husband and I have planned to do just that this year!

We have purposed to not by anything new but look on craiglist, goodwill, and a variety of other places. In addition, we made Fabulous christmas gifs for ppl this year!

    yay!
  • Stefanie
I want to switch my focus from sewing to a bigger variety of craft projects. Browsing the non-sewing aisles at JoAnn's has really given me some inspiration that I hope lasts through the new year.

  • amyturnertaylor
    Smile!

  • Julie Luca
More sewing and rediscovering my creativity. I have let work overwhelm my world and I'm taking it back!
  • geekxnerd
Well, this may sound incredibly selfish, but I would like to craft more for myself in 2010. I spend so much of the year churning out gifts for other people, that projects that I want to do for my wardrobe and my home are often last on the list! This year, with a still new-ish apartment to make homey, I want to make crafting for myself a priority!
  • Trying to finish the other Bella Mitten, i started a year ago. Too many other fun projects got in the way!
  • What a fun way to spend the last week of the year!

  • Kristy
    I want to sew more!
  • jessica!
more crafts that involve felt! (since i have so much of it lying around!)
  • amyehodge
This sounds like a great book. Thanks for having a giveaway! And although it sounds crazy, I would like to WORK more in 2010! I haven't earned a dime in 2009, and I was used to being the breadwinner in the family, so it has been a bit strange!
  • Well, this year has sucked. So I'd like to be more happy in 2010.
  • Mari
    applique!
  • caednkat
Cuddle...... With my kids and with my husband. My kids are quickly growing up and I don't want to miss out on anymore cuddle time.

I've got waaay too many unfinished projects taking up space in my craft room. My goal for 2010 is to finish 'em!

  • nealconnor
More sewing on my new machine!
  • I'd like to exercise more in 2010. I really slacked off in 2009 and want to get back into fighting shape.
