Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

It’s coming: the next Craft Blog Tune-Up Class!

I’ve been getting some emails about this, so I thought I’d better announce it.

You can now register for my next Craft Blog Tune-Up class, happening online January 18 – February 5!

If you have a blog and you’d like it to look prettier, or have a bigger audience, or more effectively market your crafty business, this class will help you do all that.

There are lots more deets over here, but this is a quick breakdown of what we cover:

Week One: How Your Blog Reads
Week of January 18th

  • Understanding how people read blogs
  • Making your blog more “scannable” in a crowded blogosphere
  • Making your blog posts more memorable
  • Adding more value to your blog content
  • Keeping the content flowing during busy weeks

Week Two: How Your Blog Looks
Week of January 25th

  • Simple photography tune-ups
  • Layout tune-ups: using templates better
  • Custom headers and how to maximize them
  • Using those sidebars
  • Understanding visual flow

Week Three: How Your Blog Engages
Week of February 1st

  • Making the most of comments
  • Making the most of links
  • Having a conversation with your audience
  • Reaching out to new readers
  • Getting your work featured on craft websites

In short, lots of value, presented in a way that fits busy schedules and far-flung time zones. Visit this link to read some testimonials from people who’ve already taken this class. And while you’re there, sign on up!

  • I'll definitely be considering this class! I loved your advice from the last e-workshop you collaborated on. More to that point I'd like to nominate you for one of those pass it on blog awards that someone recently gave to me. Your advice had been invaluable and I thought I should let you know with a little shout out. It's on my post today

Oh, wow – thank you so much, Meg! That's a lovely surprise! And
    greatly appreciated!

Oh so awesome! I totally need to do this, but I'm already going to be taking an online craft class during that period (Style School over at Red Velvet Art). I'm going to have craft projects coming out of my ears – I'm not sure if I can tackle blog tuning-up at the same time, GAH!

Well, if there's demand for it I may run this class again in 2010. So
maybe you'll be available for that one.
