Hello there! I'm Sister Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?

Online Magazine Review: Nonpareil

Here’s another fabulous indie publishing project! Nonpareil is a brand-new online magazine that offers a crafty take on weddings and celebrations. It’s a team effort by Kristen Magee and Maddy Hague.

First, I have to say that these women did an absolutely stunning job of art direction and design. The styling and photography are so beautiful and professional, and the layout is easy to navigate. Nonpareil is set up just like a print mag, so you can page through it, but what’s really cool is, there are clickable links on many pages, so you can easily access more information.

I love curling up with a paper magazine as much as the next gal, but I have to say, online publications like these are miles ahead of most paper craft mags in terms of usefulness.

In the first issue, you’ll find craft projects like bridal headdresses, boutonnieres, centerpieces, and favor boxes. There’s even a cookie recipe! And lots and lots of eye candy.

The Nonpareil website also offers a fantastic array of downloadable invitation, envelope, and favor box templates, many of which would be dandy for non-wedding celebrations.

…So, check it out. And maybe you’d like to contribute.
