Here’s the second video in my little Google Analytics series. We’re talking about a really cool feature called Site Overlay, which lets you see what people are clicking on your blog page. (UPDATE: this feature is now called In-Page Analytics, and it works very similarly to what’s in this video.)
If you liked this video, here’s the rest of the series.

Diane!!!! I think I stumbled across this feature a million years ago and then forgot all about it! I just learned some VERY valuable things about my layout. Like I have about FIVE MILLION more labels/categories than I need. So awesome! Thank you!
Awesome, Alice! Data is good… :-)
Wow, I can't believe I never knew about this feature before – it's so useful! I knew the nav bar above my site header graphic was overlooked, but not to this extent (0% clicks!) – guess I need to prioritize my site redesign sooner rather than later… Thanks, Diane (for letting me know how terrible my site design is, hahaha!)
HAHA! I made several unfortunate discoveries on my site, too! It's great to have this window, though.
Thanks Diane, I had no idea this existed!
I just tried it- Great feature… some sad results. : ) I too could do with a few less labels.
Data is such a stern mistress sometimes, isn't it? :-)
Thanks for this helpful video, you are awesome!
Very interesting Diane. Tks for showing this. I'm spending the morning doing homework, trying to catch up :), so I'll visit my analytics and definitely check this out.
I just started using Google Analytics last week, so I'm loving your tips. (And it's fun to see what people are searching for when they come to my blog, like “skirt too short.” Huh?) Thanks for the truly useful info!
Thank you for this, very useful! Really enjoying getting to grips with google analytics!
Cool feature! You can have it turned on all the time when looking at your own site too I just noticed. Yes, I now use google analytics, thanks for the reminder!
Thank you – I have been using Google Analytics for a while and never understood site overlay. This is a very helpful video!
Does In-Page Analytics do the same thing ? I clicked on it but it said nagivation was cancelled.
I’m not sure, Sandy. Maybe check Google Analytics’ Help pages? http://www.google.com/support/analytics/?hl=en
