We’ve got more goodness from the Creative Hands books today – this time, we’re showing off new acquisitions for my erstwhile Exasperated, Crochet-Covered Baby Museum.
(For those of you who aren’t familiar, this august institution was founded in February 2008, and added to here, here, and here.)
We’ve added a new wing to the Museum to house works involving exasperated older children and knitwear.
Why so glum there, Tex? Is it the dingle-ball fringe on your hat?
I adore the expression here – it says, “Really? All the patterns in the world and you had to turn me into Sgt. Pepper?”
When I see this one, I can’t help thinking she’s being attacked by cheery light blue spiders.
“I will remember this furnacelike acrylic blanket that hampers my every movement. Oh yes. I will. And the rememberance will inform my rebellious teen years. Be warned.”
This expression has a slightly maniacal tinge to it, as if the poor kid finally grasped that he’d never be getting out of this sweltering knitwear-and-studio-lighting situation until he looked happy. HAPPY! HAPPY! HAPPY! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
When you send your child out to forage for food downtown by herself, you definitely want her to look nice.

Bahahahahaha! (that was me, laughing out loud. Exasperated children!)
Sew Invigorated took the LAUGH right out of my mouth!!! lololol! I laughed or giggled my way through the whole post Diane! You missed your calling. You should have been a comedian or at the very least a voice over on TV's Funniest Home Videos or something similar. Just adored the blue spider invasion! x
Hilarious. Perfect way to start the day. You had me at the first exasperated baby but cranky dingle-ball Tex is by far my favourite.
so funny-mostly because I was just out of high school in the 70's and tried to be so hip! thanks for the memories!!
The Sgt. Pepper one is…wow. In his defense, I think our grands will be mocking us hard, too. :)
Probably! :-) But what's interesting to me is, I find so many 1980's crafts, with their country blue geese kind of focus, to be actually mockable. This 70's stuff, I mock with huge respect. These folks were major risk-takers!
It's 10 o'clock at night and I am laughing so much I think I woke up my kids. Whoops.
The baby under the blanket is the best. Like if he (she?) could move, the photographer would be in some serious trouble. See the raised eyebrow, that baby means business!
you made me laugh so hard I started to cry and it caught my husbands attention so I went back to the beginning and started all over, laughing even harder the second time around. Thank you for your post!
Heh! Love the photos you chose as well as your comments! We had a collection of “Family Workshop” craft books when I was a teen, they were the greatest!
the sad thing is that I recognise them! I was always too busy to make them for my children, I wonder if I'd be forgiven for putting the grandchild in blue spiders
Heh! If it were me, those blue spiders would be treasured. :-)
Heh! There are no craft books in the world like 70′s craft books, to my mind. Oh, those amazing clothes! That outlandish decor! Those wild colors!
