Hello there!
I'm Diane and I have two grand passions: making crafts and making media. That's what I write about here, and sometimes, I get all thoughtful about internet culture and creative small businesses. Thanks for stopping by! Would you like some tea?
So, Halloween is just a couple days away. If you’re stressing out because you haven’t done a lick of decorating, relax. You can totally do this little project.
(My Mom made the pumpkin pie. I’m eating more of it as I type this, NOM NOM NOM.)

LOVE THIS!!!! Shamefully… I haven’t bought my candy yet. I’m heading out now, and If I can find click lights these are totally going under the porch on Halloween with our other spooky eye lights.
I love ideas for easy-cheesy projects, Diane, thank you! It seems I’m always picking up different shapes and sizes of those little lights, but now you’ve got me thinking outside the box, cool. BTW, I always get a kick out of your adorable “audience”!
Ok – this is the most awesome Halloween craft ever! Just think of all the places these can be hidden – not to mention hanging them in a dark window – lots of them! Or using more of that fabulous duck tape to attach them to the BACK of Halloween costumes- scarey coming and going! A mini sandwich board for a cat or dog! Ha! You see what I mean! Brilliant!
Awesome! We are in a new house and looking forward to all the ghosts and goblins ringing our doorbell! This neighborhood goes all out with decorations and I needed something special — those eyes are it!! Husband went right out and bought me the lights and tape. I stuck them at a slant on a black shoe box lid and propped them up high in the window by the door. I think I’ll swing by and get some black faux fur tomorrow to glue on the box lid so it looks more monster-like. Really fun!!! Thanks!
The children enjoyed the Spooky Monster in the window. Our porch is up from the street 7 steps so I think the parents who stayed on the sidewalk got the better view. I cut 2 ear shapes and tacky-glued them above each eye. Then I just wrapped the fur (1/8th of a yard — fur is expensive!!) and stapled it to the sides of the lid. With more time, next year, I will grow my monster family and use a little more finesse! Thanks again for this darling idea. I will email you some photos.
I am not having any success finding an email or instructions as to how to send you my photos. Please email me to let me know how. I suspect I am having a “blonde moment” and simply cannot SEE it right before my very eyes. Thank you! ;o)
So great! Wish I had seen this before Halloween! No worries, I’m filing it away for next year! So quick and easy, I love that during the holidays.

That was a scary project! And so entertaining of course.
Thank you, Stephanie! And as a bonus, we now have a cleaned-off dining table. :-)
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
As my 3 yr old granddaughter would say: “OOoohh I’m scary!” :) Fun and spooky!

Wait… YOU haven’t bought candy yet? The author of Mega•Spooky? Wow.
You are a crafty genius. It had to be said.
Heh heh! I know, right? I’ve never managed to find a good use for them as lights!

*clapping hands* Yaaaaaaay, that’s so cool! Shoe boxes are an awesome idea – and if you glue on that fur, I would love to see a picture!
