Giveaway: Sewing School

20 Dec 2010

sewing_school01

The nice folks at Storey Publishing have donated a copy of Sewing School to give away here - yay! (You can check out my earlier review here.)

To enter to win, leave a comment below (WITH your email address, please) and tell me about The kid you'll be sewing with if you win.

I'll draw a winner at noon PST Wednesday, December 22. Sorry, but if you win, you'll get your book after Christmas - but that's okay, there's a whole Winter for awesome sewing projects.

Good Luck!

UPDATE: Congrats to Anita Monery, our winner!

Yes, I want the book for myself and the little girl still inside of me. But I want it too for my three little girls. Giulia, 17, Giorgia, 11, and Gea, 9. We share secrets and I'm a great admirer of their creativity.

I'd love to win this book, it looks like the perfect way for me to teach my 10 year old daughter to sew. She loves handmade things and has started to dabble with sewing by making Christmas presents for her little brother.

I have 3 boys ages 3-9 I love to craft and my boys are my biggest fans! biddywolf at gmail dot com

What a great giveaway. We just borrowed this book from the library. We have 3 girls and they all loved the projects. Thank you for the giveaway and happy holidays.

I know a little girl who loves every craft activity I do.
She's the younger niece of my faincè. Her name is Chiara (a very common italian name).
She looks me with her big eyes opened when I knit something and she always asks: "Really have you made this???" when I show her a bag I realized with my sewing machine.
So, if I win, I'll use this book with her :)

Yay! Fun giveaway. I would love to get this because I have been trying to teach my nieces and nephews to slow a little bit each time we have a family get together. I like for them to appreciate that the things they buy come from somewhere and there is work involved in making things. Plus they adore the stuff they make themselves.

I'd be sewing with my niece, Gloria. She's 7 years old and is always bugging me to teach her to sew and knit and craft. FUN!

Oh! I just saw this book in passing at the check out lane in Hobby Lobby...and I was sad I had to pass it by. My girls and I are looking forward to sewing this winter. We have a spring wardrobe to complete! Please, random generator, please pick me...

My 6 year old daughter is very interested in sewing and fabric. I think this would be a great book to get her started on her sewing journey.

Happy holidays! (anita@monery.net)

What an awesome giveaway. I would use the book with my oldest daughter.

What a great book! I would be using this book with my 7 year old son and we will make projects for my new little granddaughter! Who I will also use this book with! But it will be a few years . . . :)

I am starting a sewing class with my 6 year old and 4 of her girlfriends! I am just as excited about it as she is :) Thanks for offering such a perfect giveaway!

My nieces are 5. 8 and 9 and their mom teaches kids sewing classes, so they are relatively interested but always on the lookout for new things to make! :) Very crafty, those girls :)

Just found the blog and I love it. I sew with my 9 year old daughter - she just made 19 pillow cases for Christmas gifts. I have become her cutting and ironing assistant.

Happy Holidays.

Pick me! I would use this book with my 2 boys (and my daughter when she's older) and a gaggle of neighborhood kids as well.

It would help if I read the directions more closely the first time! I teach school and would love to share these ideas with my students and my Eduquilters club! Thanks! ~~ Marilyn S

What a great prize!! I would be sewing with my daughter 10 year old daughter. I gave her her first sewing machine this summer and she's been whipping up gifts for her friends at school. I know this book would get a LOT of use here at our house. :)

This book looks so cool! I'm looking forward to teaching my granddaughter Keira to sew. The only thing is that I have to learn first!

Hello Sister Diane. I have started a community sewing class, and have just been asked by a local high school if I will have 10 of their "disadvantaged and disenfranchised" students to join with us in the New Year. I would love this book as it provides such clear explanations and so many ideas to stimulate their creativity. www.gentlefootprint.com.au...

The book sounds fabulous! I would use it with my sweet daughter, Mary-Catherine, who loves to watch mommy sew and knit. I have wanted to teach her something but was clueless how to begin! jenniferjstanford@gmail.com

I would love to use the book for sewing projects with my 4 yr old granddaughter. I am making an art box for her for her 5th birthday in January.

we have 5 granddaughters I would love to teach them all to sew

Pick me! Pick me! My daughter is nearly 4 and loooves to sew with mama. She pulls the pins out as I sew and puts them on my magnetic pin cushion, but she would love projects that she can really work from start to finish. madronatree@gmail.com

My daughter is 4, she's already baking with me. She just loves to participate to everything my husband or I are making. I gave her a needle and thread from time to time, she is enjoying the process. I am sure she would love to have her own project to work on (with some help). chiche9(at)gmail(dot)com

This is a fabulous prize.... I have a 7 year old girl with CP who has just done her first ever sewing project with me and was thrilled as was I at the amazing achievement. What a wonderful way to keep the momentum going. My 4 year old boy would love to help too!

I will give the book to my daughter, who lately has been sewing lots of dolls by hand, and just this week made her first simple bag on her mini sewing machine. She would *love* this book!

Thanx for the giveaway. My 10 yr old DD is dying to begin sewing. She has taken her first class at JoAnns and wants me to start also. This would be the perfect opportunity for a special bonding time with my tween dd. Thanx again.
p.s. I love the podcast, you inspire me

My best friend's daughter, Fathia, is my protegee. She always keen to learn anything new. We've been doing projects together, so of course I'll be sewing with her :)

lia.emilia12@yahoo.co.id

my niece!

My 13 year old just started asking for fabric for Christmas to make stuff with. She has never shown interest before, so this would be a fun surprise for her!

Thanks so much for the giveaway - what a great idea! My crafty 9 year old daughter, Ruby, is getting a sewing machine for Christmas from her sewing big sister, age 25. My older daughter and her husband just moved to their own apartment, so Ruby and I will have lots of time to sew together, and it is a bond that the girls will have with each other. laura at omtara dot com

Shucks -- our Teen Queen will be off to College in a year and a half. I probably should send her off with some skills or something (since it won't be money!).

I would love to win this book for my daughter Hanna - she is an incredibly creative soul and a bit of inspiration from this awesome book would be perfect surprise for her!! Thanks!

My 7 yr. old son wants to learn to sew. So far we've sewn on paper. I'd love to have this book as I'd also like to try to teach sewing over the summer when I'm not teaching first grade. We need to teach the younger generation.

My 7-year-old son is interested in making toys!

Hi - I have it on good authority that Santa is bringing my daughter a small sewing machine. We would love this book!

Oh wow! I'd love this book to spend some quality time with my niece (13). She loves doing everything with her hands; she's deaf, but can play piano like a pro (somehow! and I can barely pick out notes), loves doing the Cat's Cradle games, and we've had a lot of fun with perler beads this year. She loves DIY kind of stuff, so this is just up her alley. :) (If I don't win, I'll probably buy it anyway. :P)

I ordered this for my granddaughter for Christmas and couldn't bear to part with it!
